Lucknow: Three Accused Arrested for Gang Rape and Threatening Woman in Ashiyana Area

Lucknow – In a major breakthrough, the Ashiyana Police in Lucknow have arrested three accused in connection with a gang rape case registered earlier this year. The arrests were made near Ramabai Maidan based on a tip-off received by local police sources.

Background of the Case

The case was initially registered at Ashiyana Police Station on February 10, 2025 (FIR No. 40/2025) under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including:

  • Section 74/115(2): Assault and criminal intimidation

  • Section 352/351(3): Use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty

  • Section 127(2): Verbal abuse and life threats

  • Section 70(1): Gang rape (later added based on victim’s statement under Section 183 BNS)

According to the complainant, the three accused had allegedly molested, gang-raped, verbally abused, and threatened her with death.

Arrested Accused

The accused arrested are:

  1. Arvind, son of Bechanlal, resident of Pani Ki Tanki ke paas, Aurangabad Jagir, Ashiyana, Lucknow (Age: ~36 years)

  2. Ram Sumiran, son of Mangu alias Gangu, resident of Aurangabad Jagir, Ashiyana, Lucknow (Age: ~44 years)

  3. Sachin, son of Bechanlal, resident of Aurangabad Jagir, Ashiyana, Lucknow (Age: ~40 years)

Arrest Operation

Acting on specific information provided by an informant, a police team nabbed the accused from near Ramabai Maidan. Their identities were confirmed through questioning, and all three were made aware of the charges against them before being taken into police custody on April 18, 2025.

Investigation Status

The case is being investigated under the supervision of the Station House Officer of Ashiyana, and further interrogation of the accused is underway. The police are also looking into any potential past criminal records and whether the accused are involved in other crimes.

Authorities have assured a speedy trial and strict legal action in accordance with the gravity of the offence.
